The Art Seen

Developed a complete brand identity for the student art gallery of Williams College. The project focused on promoting student work that often goes unseen.

Brand identity work included creating original logo design, typography, poster design, website interface, and event materials to create a consistent visual system.

OVERVIEW

The gallery needed an identity that was approachable and creative rather than corporate.

Student artists were hesitant to submit work if it felt intimidating, and the gallery needed a system that highlighted student art without overshadowing it.

THE BRIEF

KEY DECISIONS

  • Created a handmade typeface for the logo and section headers to emphasize approachability and creativity.

  • Built a black-and-white interface to naturally emphasize colorful student artwork.

  • Designed a map and wayfinding system for an alumni gallery event that aligned with the visual identity.

  • Ensured stylistic consistency across digital, print, and event signage, while allowing room for dynamic, attention-grabbing pieces where needed.

Identity fully adopted across gallery web presence, posters, and exhibitions. Established a flexible visual system that supported future iterations and events.

WAWSA attendance exceeded expectations and generated over $2000 for students in two days.

OUTCOME

Brand identity design, hand-drawn typography, website design, poster design, layout.

I managed the entire process from concept through production, ensuring the system remained cohesive across physical and digital media. I worked closely with gallery leadership to ensure alignment with brand values.
